Stylish, modern Margaux. This blend leans towards Cabernet Sauvignon, as you’d expect, fleshed out with Merlot, and with a splash of Petit Verdot to add grippy tannins and a deeper colour.
Production
Fermented in a mix of cement and stainless steel tanks and aged for 10-12 months in French oak barrels, of which 35% are new.
Tasting notes
Bright and attractive, pronounced dense fruit redolent of blackberries, and cassis, with well-integrated oak adding a mocha note to the finish. Allow it to enjoy some extra time in bottle to get the best out of this stylish wine.
Food match
Roast lamb served pink with herbs, or a rare sirloin steak.

Château Tayac

Meet the Producer
Château Tayac's vineyards cover an area of 37 hectares, on the gravelly soils around Soussans. In the Portet family for 4 generations, this is very much a family affair. Guy Portet uses the Méthode Cousinié; a system of observation and analysis to maintain optimum vineyard health with minimal treatments. Nicolas Portet is the winemaker; the wine style is harmonious and well-balanced allowing the excellent quality of the fruit to shine through.
A Note on Sustainability
At Château Tayac, Guy Portet employs the Cousinié method to monitor the condition of his vines. It is a holistic technique, involving the biochemical mapping of soils and the analysis of the leaves and trunks of the vines, to intervene as little as possible whilst working to rebalance the biodiversity and composition of the soil, improving the health of the vines, and strengthening their natural defences against diseases and pests.
