Henstone Champagne Cask Single Malt Whisky

We’re thrilled to have Henstone’s new Ex Champagne Cask Whisky in store on its launch day! We’ve tasted it, and it’s fantastic — bright, vibrant and with a real freshness that makes it stand out. After four years in ex-Jim Beam bourbon casks, it was transferred into a French oak barrique previously used for Charlemagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Champagne, made from 100% Chardonnay. 🍾 The result is a distinctive whisky, bright, fresh, and vibrant, with a lovely little “fizz” of citrus and fruit on the palate. Tasting Notes; Nose: Crisp green apple, white pear and white grapes. Palate: Grapefruit, white peach, ginger and pear, with a vibrant, sherbet-like acidity that gives a wonderfully fizzy sensation on the tongue - almost like fizzy banana sweets. Finish: Toasted almond, soft oak tannins, white pepper and a clean, refreshing minerality. We love stocking local producers. Henstone began in Oswestry in 2017 and is now based at Dingle Farm near Trewern, Shropshire — a family-run distillery with strong Shropshire roots. Just 374 bottles from this single cask — and we’re delighted to have some on our shelves.
