A unique, leesy and textural Riesling from old, dry-grown blocks in the Eden Valley. An Aussie classic.

Production The Eden Valley is a sub-region of the Barossa Valley, known for its cooler climate and high-altitude vineyards, which produce Rieslings with intense fruit flavors, high acidity, and minerality. This wine comes from two Southern Eden Valley vineyards one in Springton and the other in Flaxman’s Valley. Made with a small amount more solids than usual to produce a wine of great texture, balance and finesse.

Tasting notes A nose of green figs and ripe, green apple and lime zest emerges a palate of textural lime-leaf, greengage plum flesh and salted butter with a pleasing of CO2 in the finish. Its a really delicious, leesy expression of this ancient dry-grown block in the Eden Valley, whose acid profile and texture makes it a great food-pairing Riesling.

Food match Thai green curry, red curry prawns, Cape Malay curries, ginger and cocunut based veggie dishes.

Meet the Producer

The winery in the hamlet of Marananga was established in 1992 and has sublime vistas over its old vineyards. Ancient gums on rolling Barossa hills overlook Greenock and Seppeltsfield. Behind the small, hands-on winery is a classic, old-time Barossa homestead built in the late 1800s over which a single palm tree stands. All fruit is hand-harvested and naturally-fermented, aged largely in older French barriques and some larger vessels, also some American oak which suits the generosity of the reds here too. Inspired by old-school winemaking techniques Tom White champions natural winemaking from his old vines, respecting the traditional flavours of the Barossa.
