Pineapple is a particularly powerful flavour, but somehow it manages to go well with all sorts of foods and drinks, which is probably why it's seen as a symbol of hospitality (that's not the reason, but play along). It just so happens that the fruit pairs excellently with rum, and it also just so happens that we have the Project #173 Pineapple Rum right here! Good quality rum, naturally flavoured with superbly tangy pineapple. Aces.
Tasting Note
Nose
Citrus, kiwi and the unmistakable funkiness of pineapple, with underlying toasted brown sugar and a touch of mint.
Palate
Again, bright fruit notes sit up front on the palate, though now hints of cinnamon and allspice bring a warming touch to the proceedings.
Finish
Upside-down cake, runny honey, and a crack of peppercorn.
Overall
A cracking flavour combo, with enough of the rum's flavour profile shining through the vibrant pineapple elements.
