A limited production of select parcels, to tell the story of unique place of origin.
Production
Comprised of only the finest select parcels of fruit identified for their distinctive colour, flavour and structural properties. Carefully hand harvested and gently destemmed into small open top fermenters retaining a large proportion of whole berries alongside 20% whole bunch, the fruit is allowed to undergo a natural fermentation and extended post ferment maceration for a total of 30 –32 days on skins before pressing to 225L French Oak barrels (25%New) where it is matured for 14 months. Bottled without fining or filtration to ensure the beauty we see in the vineyard is reflected in the finished wine. CELLARING POTENTIAL 10+ years.
Tasting notes
Super Nanny Pinot Noir has a complex and seductive nose, showing ever changing layers of raspberry, plums, bramble, sweet baking spice, and an ethereal floral lift. The palate is rich, flowing on to a bouquet of dark berry fruits, dried herbs, and spice. Fine velvety tannins lead towards a bright and persistent finish.
Food match
Will pair well with chargrilled meat, pork ribs and Jerk chicken.

Meet the Producer
Nanny Goat Vineyard is named after the wild goats that roam the mountainous terrain of the Central Otago. It seemed to be a fair reflection of the wineries determination to succeed, adapt and thrive in the rugged and often extreme climates of Central Otago – much like the nimble and sure footed wild goats of the region.
Nestled within a timeless and sensual landscape, Nanny Goat Estate Vineyard sits between 270m and 290m above sea level spread across two ancient, North East facing terraces in the sub region of Queensbury. This is a region of climatic extremes with typically very hot summers, short autumns and bitterly cold winter days. Challenging conditions for producing world-class cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Today, the 19.6 Hectare estate has 10.91Ha under vine, 75% Pinot Noir, 11% Chardonnay and 14% Pinot Gris vines planted in 2004 and 2005. As part of their long term estate planning, additional plantings of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines have been completed in 2020 and 2021.
Winemaker Alan Peters-Oswald grew up in the small town of Roxburgh, not far from the now internationally renowned wine growing sub regions of Central Otago. This instilled in Alan a love of the rugged beauty and boldly contrasting extremes this region has to offer. After completing his diploma in viticulture and wine production in Marlborough he was quickly drawn back to Central Otago. In a rather uncanny way Alan has come full circle – from growing up on a small lifestyle block in rural Central Otago farming Angora goats, to the role of Winemaker for Central Otago’s Nanny Goat Vineyard, producing premium Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah.
From their inception and the inaugural release of their first Pinot Noir in 2005, Nanny Goat Vineyard has strived to produce wines with elegance, concentration and balance while allowing each individual parcel of fruit to tell its own unique story.
A Note on Sustainability
As vignerons, Nanny Goat believe their primary role is to act with consideration, responsibility and care with both their own vineyard and those of their grower partners. Since their first release in 2005, they have taken active measures to understand, educate and implement sustainable measures in the vineyard, at the winery and Cellar door. To help attract beneficial insects and increase the biodiversity within the vineyard, Phacelia and Buckwheat crops are planted in the interrows.
Nanny Goat Vineyards are certified "Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand". This means that their wines are made from grapes grown in 100% SWNZ-certified vineyards and produced in 100% SWNZ-certified winemaking facilities. To be SWNZ certified, all members must complete annual submissions and undergo regular on-site audits conducted by an independent verification company. Annual submissions are made through an online questionnaire covering off impacts across the industry's six focus areas, which are Soil, Water, Plant Protection, Waste, People and more recently Climate Change. Vineyard members must also submit a full spray diary annually, which documents all agrichemical applications made to the vineyard that season. Spray diaries are processed for compliance to ensure that only approved products have been used and specific rules of use have been adhered to.
New Zealand is at the forefront of Sustainability in wine with a roadmap to Net Zero by 2050 in place.
