Taylor’s Very Old Single Harvest Tawny Port 1970

A beautifully mature Tawny Port, Taylor’s 1970 was the seventh release in the house’s limited-edition series celebrating wines reaching their 50th anniversary. Drawn from Taylor’s extensive reserves of rare Single Harvest Ports, it matured patiently in seasoned oak casks before being bottled in 2020.

Pale mahogany in colour, with a broad pale-gold rim and subtle olive highlights, this Port reveals layers of complex aroma. Sawn oak, cigar box and cedar mingle with bright citrus notes, giving way to warmer impressions of marzipan, walnut and coffee.

On the palate, rich nutty flavours unfold alongside butterscotch and delicate hints of black pepper and cardamom. Lively acidity brings freshness and balance, supporting the wine’s mature richness and carrying its intricate flavours through an elegant, lingering finish.

Founded in 1692, Taylor’s is one of the oldest and most prestigious Port houses. Celebrated for its distinguished Vintage Ports, it also holds one of the most extensive reserves of very old cask-aged Port, including a remarkable collection of rare wines from individual harvests.

Presented in a magnificent Taylor’s branded wooden box, this 1970 Single Harvest makes a thoughtful gift for someone born or married in that year, or a memorable bottle for a special occasion. Fully mature and ready to enjoy, it requires no decanting.
