Couldn't load pickup availability
Vibrant young Sangiovese from northern Chianti is given a boost of ripe, sweet, spicy fruit from 15% barrique-aged Syrah from Uggiano's Chianti Classico vineyards.
Production
After a soft pressing, Sangiovese and Syrah undergo separate, temperature-controlled fermentations in stainless steel using selected yeasts - with pumping-over. After 15-18 days both wines are separated from the skins. The Syrah is aged in French oak barrels for 9 months while the Sangiovese is stored in stainless steel before blending.
Tasting notes
Pure fresh red fruits on the nose, redcurrant and morello cherries, with warm spicy notes and a hint of oak. The palate has ripe plum and bramble characters along with bright red cherry fruit. Supple, structured tannins and balancing acidity give a soft, smooth finish.

Meet the Producer
Winemaker Giuseppe Losapio founded Azienda Uggiano in the early 1970s, and steadily developed the estate at San Vincenzo a Torri. It is now one of the leading producers in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini zone. With 100 hectares of hillside vineyards (in both Colli Fiorentini and around neighbouring Chianti Classico, near San Casciano), Uggiano produces classic and classy Tuscan reds from the region's principal grape varieties. A core of quality runs through an unfussy, practical and exceptionally well-priced range, from bright entry level Chianti to some impressive Riserva wines. In 2015, the Losapio family sold the company to Uggiano’s young but experienced management team, including commercial manager Giacomo Fossati and Daniele Prosperi, winemaker for the past 12 vintages.
A Note on Sustainability
Uggiano have achieved Equalitas Sustainable certification which applies to the winery and all wines bottled there. Equalitas certification is a sustainability standard specifically for the wine sector, evaluating companies on their environmental, economic, and social impact. It assesses a company's commitment to sustainability through measurable indicators and requires an independent audit for certification. The certification focuses on areas like carbon footprint, water footprint, biodiversity, and social responsibility, ensuring transparency and progress towards sustainable practices in the wine industry.
